The Saturday performance of Messiah on December 16 is nearly sold out.   A few single tickets are still available. Renowned Baroque lutenist and Grammy nominated director Stephen Stubbs (Boston Early Music Festival, Tragicomedia) makes his PBO debut directing two different holiday programs with world-class international soloists and the full forces of the Portland Baroque Orchestra and Cappella Romana as the chorus.

The Saturday and Sunday performances are Portlands only all-professional performances of Handels complete Messiaha PBO tradition for over 20 years (approximately 3 hours long).

The shorter Friday and Monday performances (about 2 hours), perfect for families with children, pair highlights from Messiah with J. S. Bachs famous Magnificat, performed complete with its rarely heard Christmas movements.

Both programs feature orchestra, chorus, and internationally-renowned soloists: Anne-Carolyn Bird, soprano (Santa Fe and Metropolitan Opera); David Walker, countertenor (Boston Baroque, English National Opera); English tenor Julian Podger tenor (regular soloist with Christopher Hogwood, John Eliot Gardiner, etc.); and returning baritone Charles Robert Stephens (New York City Opera).
