Pre-Concert Lectures

One hour prior to each regular-season performances (all but our December programs) a free pre-concert lecture is held in a space directly adjacent to the performance hall. For each of these lectures, an expert in the field, and frequently one or more of the evening’s guest artists, will explore the music being presented at the concert and the historical context in which it was created. For the 2005-2006 Royal and Noble Season each lecturer will address the role that aristocratic patronage played in the creation of the works being performed.

PBO’s pre-concert lectures are made possible in part by a grant from the Oregon Council for the Humanities, a statewide nonprofit organization and an independent affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, which funds OCH’s grant program.

Please check back for information about Pre-Concert Lectures for upcoming concerts.
