Welcome to the 23rd Season of
Portland Baroque Orchestra
Our
new season is Virtuoso Inspired not just for the performances you'll hear
but also for the spectacular compositions by inspired composers PBO will
bring to life. With Brandenburg Concertos and a new virtuoso concerto by
Vivaldi, I know I have my work cut out for me! Throughout the year, we'll
welcome back to Portland some wonderfully talented old friends and, with
many exciting debuts, undoubtedly make some new ones. For a groundbreaking
season finale, one of the largest PBO orchestras ever assembled will give
a rare period performance of early 19th-century music. May's "Young
Romantics" includes gems by Schubert, Mendelssohn and Carl Maria von
Weber, plus my debut of Beethoven's lyric Romances for violin and
orchestra. See you there!
