May 2006:
Mozart Celebrated. As part of city-wide birthday celebrations, Monica
and PBO offer the Concerto for Flute and Harp, inspired by Marie Antoinette,
and the great Symphony No. 40 in G minor.
April 2006:
Handel
In Rome. PBO favorite Richard Egarr directs vocal masterpieces by the
young Handel, with soprano sensation Sari Gruber.
February 2006:
Music
For a Prince. Monica leads a concert of rare chamber music by Haydn
written for the pleasure and performances of his patron, Prince Nicolaus
Esterhazy.
December 2005:
Handel's Messiah and
Handel's Messiah and More. Handel’s complete masterpiece as well
as a new shorter performance of Messiah highlights and Vivaldi’s rousing
Gloria.
November 2005:
An
Imperial Offering. Monica Huggett presents Bach’s great Musical Offering
to Frederick II and music by Count van Wassenaer.
September 2005:
Choréographie (Paris 1700). Andrew Lawrence-King returns to Portland
with dance music from the court of Louis XIV.

Vivaldi’s
Harmonic Spirit.
Cellist Sarah Freiberg and viola d’amore soloist Rob Diggins
join Monica Huggett in a sparkling performance of concertos from
Vivaldi’s L’Estro Armonico.
March 2000:
Monica &
Byron. It was such a hit last season, that
fortepianist Byron Schenkman and Monica Huggett are teaming up
again for a program featuring Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 3 and
the Beethoven Symphony No. 4.
February 2000:
L’Europe Rustique.
British conductor and harpsichord virtuoso Gary Cooper –
Monica Huggett’s colleague in Sonnerie – debuts with PBO in
a spirited program of rustic instrumental music.
January 2000:
Chapel Royal
Anthems The always-surprising, ever-energetic
conductor Paul Goodwin will stage a spectacular Handel
collection with the PBO Chorus.
December 1999:
Messiah for the
Millennium. Eric Milnes, a regular Portland
favorite, returns to recreate a Messiah performance from late in
Handel’s life. An expanded orchestra and the large choir from
Trinity Cathedral will lift you out of your seats!
November 1999:
Elegant Serenade.
Monica Huggett shines in Haydn’s Violin Concerto in C Major
and Mozart’s Serenata Notturna. A Boccherini guitar symphony
and more Haydn complete the program.
October 1999:
Splendors of the
Court. Reinhard Goebel, the world-renowned leader
of Musica Antiqua Köln, kicks off the season with sparkling,
"big orchestra" music from the 18th Century court of
Dresden.
